I'm suddenly unable to listen to any other song, so I'm trying to figure out what 'pings' me so hard about this one.

I went to Suzanne Vega's website to see what she had to say about the song. Some quotes from her:

"I know that I wanted to write a song about a woman who was in power and it's hard to find a symbol for someone like that, especially in America. So I chose the queen to do that."
