You are doing yourself a serious disservice if you don't read
smilla02's story, Not A Favorable Wind.
It's set between IMToD and ELaC, and it fits perfectly into the space therein; the language is gorgeous and evocative. Hard to believe that a little over 2700 words can hit you like it does, but oh, does it ever - plus, the Sam-POV is probably the most spot-on I've ever read.
