(note: request pertains to fiction, not to my RL.)
(note 2: not yet, anyway)
In particular, I'm curious about what a person has to do if he'd want to plead insanity when charged with attempted murder; do doctors have to become involved? How many? Who makes the ultimate decision/diagnosis?
If the person has been declared insane, who would then be responsible for him - I'm thinking if you're legally insane, you can't sign contracts or be held accountable for things like mortgages, etc.
Any resources y'all could point me towards would be great.
